About the 2021 American Silver Eagle
Coins struck early in 2021 carry John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle and shield (Type 1), the reverse used since 1986. From mid-2021 the US Mint switched to Emily Damstra’s landing eagle (Type 2) and a refreshed obverse.
